Chinese researchers have discovered an ancient treasure containing 1.5 tons of coins, dating back more than a thousand years to the Tang and Song Dynasties in Jiangsu Province, eastern China.
Xinhua news agency quoted researchers as saying today: The treasure was found in a hole in Shuangdun Village, Yancheng City. The hole was square with a length of 1.63 meters, a width of 1.58 meters, and a depth of 0.5 meters. Bronze coins were collected using straw ropes and were carefully placed inside the hole. to the Song Dynasty.
The researchers pointed out that the discovered coins are well preserved and the inscriptions on most of them are clear, which indicates an important value for them in future archaeological studies.
Usually, such safes were buried in the ground in order to preserve precious pottery, coins, metal tools, and other valuables.
