The struggle is intensifying: a shortage of Tnuva dairy products in the Shufersal chain Israel today

2022-12-01T08:31:18.604Z

The food chain hung signs directing shoppers to buy alternative dairy products, due to Tnuva's desire to raise prices • Two weeks ago the company announced a price increase of approximately five percent

The fight between Shufersal and Tnuva is taking a step forward:

starting today (Thursday), consumers may encounter a significant lack of Tnuva's unsupervised dairy products in Shufersal chain refrigerators.

Shufersal hung signs in its branches stating that due to the chain's disapproval of a price increase, there may be a shortage of the following Tnuva products: Napoleon, Gilboa, Emek, Gush Halav cheese, Yopla Yogurt, Go milk delicacies, the White Chef, Piraeus, Yolo, and more.

"We invite you to purchase equivalent products from other brands. We apologize for the inconvenience," the sign reads.

Let us remind you that Tnuva, the largest dairy in Israel, informed its customers in the retail and institutional market two weeks ago, of updating the price list of non-supervised milk products and milk substitute products at an average rate of about 4.7%.

Shufersal chain, the largest chain in Israel, did not approve Tnuva's new price list, which is why the shortage arose.

We note that Tnuva continues to supply Shufersal with the regulated products (such as carton milk, white cheese, Eshel, etc.) and the products whose prices have not increased, such as cottage, white Tnuva yogurt.

The increase in Tnuva's prices is considered proportional, especially against the background of the significant increase in inputs, primarily the price of raw milk, which has increased by about 24% since 2019, as well as other raw materials, such as soybeans whose price has increased by 46% and oats whose price has increased by 43% in two years the last ones

Shufersal is the largest retail chain in Israel, which purchases about 20% of all Tnuva products.

Therefore, the question arises as to whether Tnuva has reduced the production volume or continues to supply the goods to other food chains only in larger quantities.

Rami Levy said in an interview with Network B yesterday that he continues to receive goods from Tenuva and is negotiating with them at this stage.

Meanwhile, those affected by the power play between the two giants are mainly the residents of the far periphery who do not have a wide variety of food chains and stores - they will have to make do with the existing products.
