The Supreme Court on Thursday stayed its decision on President Joe Biden's student loan forgiveness plan, announcing instead that it will hear full oral arguments on an expedited basis in February and make a decision later.
Meanwhile, the presidential program remains blocked.
Attorney General Elizabeth Prelogar filed an emergency petition on November 18 asking judges to lift the blockade imposed by the Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit.
In addition, a federal judge joined the blockade, and the Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit reiterated its ruling.
