The fire alarm at the Kam Lok Building in Wanchai revealed that the dead male resident surnamed Lin (89 years old) was a charred corpse with a knife beside him.
His relatives living with him fell into a coma and died after being sent to the hospital for emergency treatment.
Investigators seized accelerants at the scene and believed the cause of the fire was suspicious.
At 11 a.m., the police and firefighters explained the details. The police said that the two deceased had stab wounds on their chests, 2 cm and 1 cm respectively; the relationship between the two remains to be investigated.

Superintendent Sin Kwok-ming, Assistant Commander (Criminal) of Wanchai Police District explained the case, saying that the deceased was declared dead on the spot at 5:45 a.m., surnamed Lin (89 years old), and had lived in the unit where the fire started for more than 30 years.
The unit is about 300 square feet with one elevator and two units, one living room and two bedrooms.
Lin Weng was found in the room with his head up, a sharp weapon beside him, and a 2 cm stab wound to his heart.
It is understood that the prize is a Western-style table knife about 25 centimeters long.
As for the other man who fell into a coma during the fire and died at 5:48 a.m. after being sent to the hospital, Xian Guoming said that after preliminary investigation, he was a relative of Lin Weng. He also had a stab wound of about 1 cm near his heart.
The age of the male deceased is under investigation. He was found in the bathroom with his head down.
After a preliminary investigation, the police believe that only two people were in the unit at the time of the incident, and there was no evidence of the presence of a third party. The doors and windows were locked and there was no sign of arguing.
The personnel found two cans of combustion accelerant at the scene, which were carried in iron cans.
The police classified the case as a fire and body discovery case, and handed it over to Team 1 of the Wan Chai Crime Squad to take over the investigation.

The senior fire chief of the Fire Services Department, Zeng Huajian, said that he received a report at 3:47 am today, referring to a unit in Jinle Building, 275-277 Lockhart Road, Wanchai. Firefighters arrived at the scene at 3:51 4 minutes later, and the fire alarm was roughly was rescued.
A total of two smoke cap teams, 14 fire trucks and 4 ambulances were dispatched for the operation.

As for the other male injured, he suffered multiple severe burns on his body and was sent to Ruttonjee Hospital where he died.
The injured woman felt unwell after inhaling the smoke and did not need to be sent to the hospital after first aid.
