"Financial situation not manageable": FC Hausham files for bankruptcy

It is a difficult step that the board of FC Hausham has now taken, but in the end there was no other way out: FC Hausham filed for insolvency at the Wolfratshausen District Court on Friday.

It is a difficult step that the board of FC Hausham has now taken, but in the end there was no other way out: FC Hausham filed for insolvency at the Wolfratshausen District Court on Friday.

Attorney Birgit Baudisch, who represents FC Hausham, describes the reason as follows: "The club is currently over-indebted and is no longer able to fully service its liabilities."

The trigger is the extension to the sports facility.

The association, founded in 2007, has been working towards this desired project for years.

Construction has not yet been completed, but for various reasons, according to Baudisch, "the construction costs for this and the associated liabilities got out of hand".

The effects on the financial situation of the association are no longer manageable for the entire board.

Therefore, this step is now unavoidable, especially since the board, which was only newly elected in September, must also ensure that no mistakes are made in terms of liability law.

Hoping for the insolvency administrator

This new situation is very stressful for Patrick Asanger.

"It's totally new to me," said the FC Hausham chairman.

"I feel bad about it.

I've never been in such a situation." That's why he can't say how the club will continue.

The game operation of the first team in the C class as well as the A and B juniors is apparently not at risk.

"Otherwise we are now waiting for an insolvency administrator to be assigned to us, who will initiate the rest for us."

Disagreements in the municipal council

As reported, there had already been turbulence in the run-up to the extension.

FC Hausham had submitted an application for a grant to the Hausham community and ultimately received 30,000 euros - combined with discord towards the community from the former chairman and club co-founder Willi Halletz, who sits on the community council for the Greens and initiated the extension building.

He has now left FC Hausham.

However, the committee also expressly praised the enormous personal contribution and the excellent youth work of the association.

"We want to save FC Hausham"

Asanger wants to keep as much as possible what the club has achieved in 15 years with youth work.

"We want to try to avert bankruptcy and keep the club alive," says the chairman.

He is willing to hold further talks with creditors and to seek new sponsors.

He has already spoken to the two mayors - Jens Zangenfeind and his deputy Josef Schaftari - and informed them about the bankruptcy application.

The problem: the rising construction costs

Asanger also explains that it could come to this with the situation in the construction sector, with the prices, which have been rising steadily for months.

"It was a stupid time to build," he says.

"The costs got out of hand." He doesn't want to talk about numbers.

Asanger admits that he now regrets having been nominated for the position of chairman in September.

On the other hand, it motivates him to save FC Hausham – he has been a member for 14 years – from this deadlock.

"I think we can go the other way.

I have hope.

We want to save the club – for the players and our youth.”
