According to reports and in-depth investigations, the Anti-Triad Action Group of the New Territories South Region launched anti-crime operations codenamed "Li Ting Sweep Point", "Gobi" and "Wind Shield" at 4:30 p.m. yesterday (December 2). Together with the Lands Department and the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department, they raided an open-air barbecue site in Tung Chung, smashed two illegal gambling establishments converted from containers, and seized 1 Pai Gow table, 4 electric mahjong tables, and 1 deck of Pai Gow , 8 pairs of mahjong and a batch of gambling equipment.


During the operation, a man surnamed Wen (69 years old) was arrested for "operating a gambling establishment"; 15 men and 10 women (aged 17 to 72) were arrested for "gambling in a gambling establishment", including one named Liu (44 years old) The man is an illegal immigrant.

All of them were also fined for violating the Prevention and Control of Disease (Prohibition on Gathering) Regulations (Cap. 599G).

In addition, the staff of the Lands Department found people suspected of violating land use, illegal construction and occupation of government land on the site; the staff of the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department inspected the site environment and sanitary facilities.
