There are dark spots in the Königsdorf street lighting network.

The issue sparked debate in the council.

Königsdorf – Based on a suggestion by Markus Orterer, a discussion about literally dark spots in the local area broke out in the most recent meeting of the Königsdorf municipal council.

With a view to the Advent windows that are now gradually opening in the village, the FWG representative recommended that visitors wear conspicuous clothing or bright safety vests or at least have a flashlight with them when they walk through Königsdorf.

Königsdorf: Lantern is missing on the way to school

“It's dark early and yet there are so many people in black walking around.

You hardly see them.” A high-visibility vest can save lives, “and car and truck drivers are happy for every millisecond that they see a pedestrian earlier.”

Orterer underlined his appeal to the common sense of the citizens on behalf of the municipality with the sentence "Because you are worth it".

What led Deputy Mayor Sebastian Seidl to the laughter of the board to jokingly add: "And because we depend on your taxes."

The debate became serious again, however, because there are actually corners in the village where there is dangerously little light in the dark season.

Parents asked her about it, said Annemarie Schiefer (UBL), "that there is a gap in the street lighting on Beuerberger Strasse at the level of Laurenziweg.

In this way, many children go to soccer practice in the evenings and to school in the mornings.”

Mayor Rainer Kopnicky wanted to know whether a lantern was missing or just defective.

"There's none there," replied Schiefer's parliamentary colleague Bernhard Woisetschläger, who had pointed out the problem a few years ago.

Kopnicky asked building authority manager André Murach to show him the exact location on a map, “because if we want to do something there, we have to get in touch with Bayernwerk.

Retrofitting a mast costs a few thousand euros.”

Another problem: According to Woisetschläger, the resident at the said point does not want to have a mast set up on her property.

Your neighbor across the street wouldn't mind, but the lantern would be on the wrong side of the street compared to everyone else - not without problems for a connection to the power grid.

Perhaps one could speak to the lady who would like to build something new "when she starts her project", the head of the town hall decided to start a new dialogue with the resident.
