Garching's mayor outlined the mechanisms that would take effect in the event of a blackout.
Garching – In the event of a blackout, the city of Garching is prepared: a crisis management team has been set up, as well as two KAT lighthouses, and six power generators have been purchased for emergencies.
The pressure from the Mangfall valley ensures that the water flows.
Mayor Dietmar Gruchmann (SPD) already outlined the mechanisms that take effect in a blackout emergency at the town hall meeting.
Garching has set up a crisis team with the commanders of the fire brigades, the police, the doctors and pharmacies and the large grocers.
“We are preparing and are still working.
But we've done our homework," said Gruchmann.
In the event of a crisis, the two elementary schools in Hochbrück and Garching-West serve as "lighthouses" that are manned by the fire brigade and municipal employees.
"These lighthouses are the first point of contact for citizens, there is information and also concrete help here," explained Gruchmann.
In order to be able to operate the two emergency stations,
the mayor bought six power generators from the local construction machinery company Zeppelin in mid-November.
Cost: 191,000 euros.
In addition, there is money for the accessories, the conversion of the building required for the feed-in, as well as other heating devices and mobile filling stations.
In total, Gruchmann estimates investments of 400,000 euros.
In addition, the purchase of power generators and heaters is necessary.
"If so, we'll prepare smartly, I don't want to be accused of anything here," said Gruchmann.

"I had to act quickly."
Gruchmann reacted calmly to the objections of some city councillors, who would have liked to have been informed in advance about the purchase of the generators and who had doubts about the legality of the mayor's urgent decision.
He should have decided within hours.
"There were so many requests for generators there that I had to act quickly."
If a longer power outage occurs, the fire brigades will inform the population via loudspeaker announcements, and there is also corresponding information on the city's homepage and Facebook page.
The water flows out of the tap even in the event of a power failure, the flow pressure from the Mangfalltal is sufficient for this, says Gruchmann.
Solutions have already been found in the local area to get diesel supplies.
