Based on intelligence analysis and in-depth investigations, the Narcotics Bureau of the Police arrested an 18-year-old man in Tsuen Wan yesterday (2nd) for the crime of "trafficking in dangerous drugs" and seized 50 kilograms of suspected cocaine with a market value of about HK$43 million.

According to the police, the arrested man was in charge of managing the drug storage warehouse and distributing drugs to buyers, with remuneration ranging from a few hundred to a thousand dollars.

The police believe that the underworld is involved behind the scenes.

Chen Chihua, Senior Inspector of the Narcotics Investigation Bureau, said that yesterday (2nd) at 3:00 p.m., the detectives found a suspicious man leaving a sub-let unit in an industrial building on Wang Lung Street, Tsuen Wan, so they stopped and checked, and took the environmental protection bag held by the man. Seven bricks of suspected cocaine weighing one kilogram each were seized in the bag. The detectives immediately escorted the man back to the sublet unit for investigation, and then seized another 43 bricks of cocaine in the unit, and arrested him on suspicion of drug trafficking.

Police believe that drug syndicates smuggled drugs from South America to Hong Kong, and then rented sub-let units in industrial buildings in urban areas to store drugs, waiting to be sold in batches.

Due to the high flow of people in industrial buildings, people often move goods, so it is easier for drug trafficking syndicates to cover up when moving drugs, reducing the risk of being discovered by law enforcement officers.

During the operation, the police seized 50 kilograms of suspected cocaine with a market value of approximately HK$43 million. An 18-year-old man named Shao was arrested and reported to be unemployed.

Chen Chihua pointed out that the man was responsible for managing the drug storage warehouse and distributing drugs to buyers. The remuneration ranged from several hundred to one thousand yuan. He was temporarily charged with two crimes of drug trafficking. Bring to court.

The police believe that gangsters are involved behind the scenes, and the batch of drugs was supplied to the local market. However, the operation has successfully intercepted a large amount of cocaine. The police will continue to use intelligence-led methods to focus on cracking down on drug trafficking syndicates from the source, and will also strengthen the crackdown on the income sources of the gangsters.

The arrested man has just turned 18. Chen Chihua said that drug dealers usually take advantage of the mentality of young people who have not entered the world and want to "get quick money" to lure them into drug trafficking.

When drug dealers recruit young people for drug trafficking, they hide the serious risk of drug trafficking. Once young people are arrested, they ignore them and let them bear the legal consequences alone.

Chen reminded young people not to trade drugs for money.
