An earthquake measuring 6.1 on the Richter scale struck the province of Java, western Indonesia today, without warnings of a tsunami.
Reuters quoted the Indonesian Meteorology and Geophysics Agency as saying that the epicenter was located 52 km southwest of Garut district in the province, at a depth of 109 km, without issuing warnings that the earthquake might cause a tsunami.
A spokesman for the Disaster Mitigation Agency said: The quake injured one person and damaged four houses in the Garut district.
The agency recorded a smaller aftershock of magnitude 2.9 at a depth of 107 kilometers near the first quake, more than an hour after the quake.
The earthquake hit the province at a time when relief efforts are still being made due to the earthquake that struck the region last month and had a magnitude of 5.6 and killed at least 300 people.
