The United States unveiled yesterday (Friday) the new advanced stealth plane it has created, capable of carrying a nuclear warhead, and the first to be developed in 30 years.

The new aircraft is called the B-21 Raider, and its cost is estimated at about 700 million dollars.

Despite its disclosure, most of its details remain confidential.

"This is a testament to American entrepreneurship and innovation," said United States Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, at a ceremony held yesterday to unveil the plane.

"Even the most advanced air defense system will have difficulty locating the B-21, about 50 years of research went into the development of this aircraft."

Austin also added that a system was installed in the plane that would allow the installation of new weapons, which have not yet been invented.

Although the launch did not mention unmanned flight capabilities, the spokeswoman for the US Air Force said that the aircraft is ready for such a possibility.

The first flight of the B-21 is expected to take place only next year, and in the meantime six additional aircraft of the same model are being produced.

The US Air Force is expected to purchase about 100 units of the aircraft, which will replace the B-1 and B-2 models, which are currently in use.
