According to authorities, Savannah police detectives had arrested a 42-year-old local man suspected of shooting the teen outside his home.
Jimmy Paiz was booked on charges of aggravated assault and aggravated battery.
Paiz allegedly fired through the closed door of her house and hit the teenager who was at the front door, the uniformed woman said.

The initial investigation into the shooting found the teen was volunteering for Warnock's campaign in the run-up to a runoff between the Democratic senator and Herschel Walker, a former college football star running for the Republican Party.

“I am saddened to learn of this incident,” Warnock said in a statement.
"I am praying for the victim and her family and wish them a full recovery."
Walker's campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
“The case remains under investigation,” Savannah police added in a statement.
"At this time, there is no indication that the shooting was politically motivated."
