"
Attention,
the crisis we are experiencing
is not only hospital
," said Arnaud Robinet, president of the French Hospital Federation (FHF) and mayor of Reims (Horizons) on
France Inter
this Saturday, December 3.
It is a crisis “
of the entire French health system
”, which pre-exists the tensions generated by Covid-19 and, more recently, the influenza and bronchiolitis epidemic.
"
What makes the wealth of the French health system are its two pillars: the public and the private
, he added,
and it is
together that we must hold
".
Thus inviting public-private partnership, the mayor of Reims recalls the essential role played by the public hospital during the Covid epidemic.
“
The hospital is 85% of Covid
hospitalization
, whereas normally it is around 60% of activity
”.
He thus referred to a massive “
health debt
” which is the result of very many deprogramming of medical care in recent months: “
3.2 million deficit stays
”, he laments.
"It's peanuts"
Faced with the triple epidemic alert (Covid, flu, bronchiolitis) launched by Public Health France, the situation in the hospital continues to cause concern.
On the question of the reintegration of non-vaccinated caregivers, the president of the FHF answers in the negative.
In addition to being a question of "
ethics
" and "
public health
", their reintegration would represent a derisory aid given the extent of the shortage of hospital staff.
"
The hospital is 1.2 million agents and we are talking about 4000 people
" who are not vaccinated.
"
That's not going to solve the human resources problem
".
Arnaud Robinet recalls the figures: there are 8% vacancies among nurses, 2.5% among nursing auxiliaries and 30% among doctors on tenured positions.
The real question is that of the “
attractiveness of the profession
” of doctor, insists the president of FHF.
“
Today we can no longer react to the emergency in a systematic way
,” he insists, asking for a multi-year plan to be drawn up.
