Two people from Nuremberg misjudged the conditions for a mountain bike tour in Lenggries.

The two mountain bikers got stuck in the snow and had to be rescued by the mountain rescue service.

Lenggries – The Lenggries mountain rescue service reported on an operation near the Seekarkreuz.

Two young men from Nuremberg had blindly relied on the information provided by a touring app and wanted to ride their mountain bikes from Garmisch over the Seekar in the direction of Tegernsee last Saturday, says Lina Feile, spokeswoman for the Lenggrieser mountain rescue service when asked by the Tölzer Kurier.

Nuremberg get stuck in the snow and get stuck

The project failed shortly before the Seekarkreuz.

"There was already a lot of snow there," says Feile.

The men – both around 25 years old according to the mountain rescue service – tried to stick to their route despite snow, cold temperatures and the onset of darkness.

"At some point, however, they got stuck with their wheels in the snow and couldn't get any further," reports Feile.

The emergency vehicle also needs snow chains

The emergency call came in around 4 p.m.

"We also had to put on snow chains for our emergency vehicle, otherwise we wouldn't have gotten up at all," the spokeswoman describes the operation.

Four of the mountain rescuers were deployed.

Mountain rescue service finds exhausted mountain bikers

"When we found the two mountain bikers, they were already very exhausted and hypothermic," she explains.

"Unfortunately, both of them were not wearing appropriately warm winter sports clothing." The people of Nuremberg were quickly warmed up again with blankets.

"Down in the valley, we then helped to organize a room for them in a nearby hotel to rest." Neither of the two men sustained injuries.

The mountain rescue service lasted a little over an hour.
