The city will spend around 37 million euros on construction measures next year.

The biggest chunks are the residential area west of Birkenstrasse and the new children's home on Nonnenwaldstrasse.

This emerges from the 2023 budget, which the city council has now passed.

However, the debt is increasing and the reserves are falling.

Penzberg – The Penzberg city council had already pushed and canceled projects worth millions during the preliminary consultations.

The new construction and the renovation of the Mayor Prandl School fell out of the financial plan.

He also postponed the construction of three apartment buildings on Daserweg near the "Spatzennest" day care center.

However, he pulled back halfway on the three municipal residential buildings on Sigmundstrasse, for which only a roof renovation was planned in the end.

They should now be raised by one floor each, so that nothing is blocked for later.

However, the new floors will not be expanded for the time being.

The existing apartments are to be prepared, but not extensively renovated for the time being.

In the budget session, it was also said that payments to the public utility would be stopped.

The State Horticultural Show 2028 was not shaken

The State Horticultural Show 2028, for which the city will invest at least five million euros, maybe more, over the next few years (it will probably receive just as much in the form of subsidies) has not been shaken.

In total, the city will spend around 37 million euros on construction projects in 2023.

Almost half of this, exactly 15.3 million euros, is for the new urban district west of Birkenstrasse, which costs a total of almost 60 million.

The second largest chunk is the new children's home at six million euros (of a total of almost 15 million).

After that, nothing follows for a long time.

In third place is the forecourt of the family pool and the gym there with almost two million euros.

Almost 600 pages, almost 131.9 million euros

For city treasurer Hans Blank, the almost 600-page set of figures was the last budget before his retirement.

The financial budget for 2023 has a volume of almost 131.9 million euros, the highest in the city's history.

In his speech to the city council, Blank said that Penzberg had an above-average per capita tax capacity of 3042 euros.

This is twice as much as Weilheim and Schongau together.

Nevertheless, it is becoming increasingly difficult to achieve lasting performance, he warned.

Should inflation remain high and the environment deteriorate, "further drastic measures are necessary".

At the same time, Blank urgently recommended hiring a project manager for the 2028 State Horticultural Show.

According to the budget, the reserves will drop from the current 16.5 million euros (of which 12 million euros are special reserves for the repayment of trade tax) to 825,000 euros by the end of 2025.

At the same time, the debt will increase from 21 to 32 million euros - money that the city is borrowing for the new development west of Birkenstrasse.

In 2023, the city will take out a new 12 million euro loan for this purpose.

If you add the municipal utilities, the debt by the end of 2025 will be almost 84 million euros.

Penzberg has to transfer 24.5 million euros to the district

The city of Penzberg expects around 51 million euros in tax revenue next year, of which 28.6 million euros will be trade tax and 15.3 million euros income tax.

However, on the other hand, the city has to transfer 24.5 million euros to the district and 4.7 million euros in trade tax to the federal and state governments.

In addition to the district levy, the highest expenses in the administrative budget are personnel costs of twelve million euros.

A lot of money should flow into the coffers through the sale of fixed assets: around 18.2 million euros.

The city council approved the 2023 budget and the financial plan up to 2026 against the vote of Kerstin Engel (Greens).

The assessment rates for property taxes (350 percent) and trade tax (330 percent) remain unchanged.
