According to informants and in-depth investigations, officers of the Special Duty Team of the Sham Shui Po Police District launched an anti-triad and anti-triad campaign codenamed "LEVINGTON" and "CLEARSKY" in Sham Shui Po District yesterday (December 3). During the operation, officers intercepted a suspicious-looking man at the opposite side of Yiu Tung Street, and seized more than 16 grams of suspected heroin on him.
Officers then searched the man's residence on Tai Po Road and seized more than 900 grams of suspected heroin.
The total market value of the drugs seized in the operation exceeded 900,000 yuan.
The 45-year-old local man surnamed Wang was arrested on suspicion of "drug trafficking" and is currently being detained for investigation. The case is being followed up by Team 1 of the Sham Shui Po District Special Duty Team.
Police believe that this operation has intercepted the source of drugs for some drug trafficking activities in the area.
The police have been cracking down on drug black spots in the district and adopting a zero-tolerance attitude.
The police also reminded the public that "drug trafficking" is a serious crime. According to the "Dangerous Drugs Ordinance" (Chapter 134 of the Laws of Hong Kong), once convicted, the maximum penalty is life imprisonment and a fine of 5 million yuan.
