A murder will cause a stir in Schongau in July next year - in the play "1493".

The main roles have been taken, advance sales start on Sunday at the Treibhaus theater association.

Schongau – Schongau Anno Domini 1493 the body of an influential patrician is found within the city walls.

More people die while the investigation into the murder is ongoing.

Apparently it's about a decades-old secret that the perpetrator is chasing.

And the past threatens to catch up with some....

Maximilian Geiger, author and director again, and Michael Boos, chairman of the Treibhaus Theater Association, have not yet revealed much more about the new festival.

Until recently, the main focus was on the performances of "Murder on the Orient Express".

Preparations for the theater "1493 - Schongau between blood and friendship" are in full swing

But now the preparations for "1493 - Schongau between blood and friendship" are in full swing.

There will be eight performances next July on Mayor-Schaegger-Platz.

The premiere is scheduled for July 7th, the final performance is scheduled for July 22nd, 2023.

Advance ticket sales “1493”

Advance ticket sales start this Sunday.

There should be online tickets via the website of the Schongau association (www.theaterverein-treibhaus.de).

A presale point will be set up from Monday in the used furniture store on Bahnhofstraße (Monday to Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.).

After January 6th, there will be advance sales in the Schongau book gallery.

The cast of the main roles is now also set: the actors wanted to be informed of the final distribution of roles by this Saturday.

Geiger reveals who will play the leading roles in "1493": Alexander Nierer from Burggen will slip into the big male lead, Nele Högg from Erbenschwang in the female lead.

Boos shouldn't be missing in the cast either, Geiger also wants to be on stage himself, "but only in a small role - very relaxed".

Dominik Nierer, who most recently played the role of the executioner Jakob Kuisl, is also listed, as are Frank Seelig and Amelie Zwerschke.

"And there are also many other great speaking roles," says Geiger.

62 actors are planned for the cast list.

Nothing further has been organized at the theater association in terms of music, but other important points have already been clarified: Katrin Lohr-Berens should again be responsible for the costumes of the main actors, and Karin Weiser will again manage the fundus.

The rehearsals for the speaking roles should start as early as the end of January, and the extras should then be added in May.

Schongau summer no longer on board

The new piece is also a new beginning, because contrary to the first announcements, Manfred Wodarczyk is no longer there.

At the two Henker's Daughter Festivals (2019 and 2016), he and the Schongauer Sommer association took care of all the organizational work.

After various allegations by Wodarczyk towards the city that there was a lack of support and appreciation, and most recently unpleasant arguments in the city council about applications for subsidies, Wodarczyk withdrew as indicated.

The Treibhaus Theater Association as an independent event organiser

You did a lot of calculations and thought long and hard about how you could reposition yourself - and then approached two people with whom you were already working anyway: Max Diegruber and Silas Schmorell, who were already responsible for the stage and technology.

The two Schongauers support the theater association with the organization.

As an independent organizer, the Treibhaus theater association wants to submit a new subsidy application to the city shortly, which should be sent out later this week.

"I'm in good spirits and hope that things will calm down and that there will be a positive restart," says Geiger.

"Any support the city can give us will help us."
