The operation to abandon weapons, initially scheduled from November 25 to December 2, will continue in the Paris region until December 6, announced the police headquarters.
In Paris, as in three departments of the inner suburbs (Hauts-de-Seine, Seine-Saint-Denis, Val-de-Marne), it is still possible to lay down your weapon.
These deposits can even be made by appointment at home.
This vast operation organized by the Ministry of the Interior and piloted by the Central Arms Service enabled the deposit of one in ten weapons illegally held in France: out of two million weapons in clandestine circulation, nearly 150,000 were deposited in centers dedicated to this use, according to estimates.
This is the result of the promise made by the State since November 25: people who secretly hold a weapon can come and deposit it with the certainty of not being prosecuted by justice and within the framework of a simplified procedure. .

The Minister of the Interior, Gérald Darmanin, welcomed the "
broad support
" of the French for this real disarmament operation.
If the majority of weapons will be destroyed, 50,000 have been registered and thus left to the owners who now have them legally.
