The Grafenaschau-Eschenlohe route is always a topic.

Citizens are now defending themselves against "traffic violations" on the street.

Schwaigen/Eschenlohe

– Several notices of fines have fluttered into the houses of residents in Grafenaschau.

This is what happened to Georg Müller's grandson, who is accused of driving on the connecting road between Grafenaschau and Eschenlohe, which is closed to motor vehicles.

The Central Fines Office of the Bavarian Police Administration Office announced in a letter that only residents may use the route.

A patrol had observed the incident and passed it on - the grandson was asked to pay 50 euros.

The case is tricky: Müller's grandson owns a property in Grafenaschau and wanted to visit his grandparents who live in the town.

To do this, he used the eight-kilometer paved route between the two towns.

"At the beginning of both streets there is a 'Anlieger frei' sign," says Müller.

However, the police administration office defines it differently.

The grandson's parcel of land is located within Grafenaschau, and the road that is closed to motor vehicles is behind the village.

"Thus, the properties are not in the area of the service road," the letter says.

appeal filed

The grandson appealed against the fine notice – without success.

Mueller is appalled.

"That's a bottomless cheek," exclaims the former municipal councilor of Schwaigen.

His grandson is not the only one who has received a notice from the central fine office.

Hubert Mangold (UVV) confirms this.

"Not an isolated case, several have paid," says the mayor of the municipality of Schwaigen.

The police controls were carried out by non-local forces during the G7 summit.

"They were bored," suspects Mangold.

On the other hand, Müller cannot understand that, according to the authorities, only those residents are residents whose property is directly adjacent to the street.

"That means that 90 percent of Grafenausschauer citizens are not allowed to drive on this road."

His request to the community: They should stipulate that all local residents are to be treated as residents.

Because: 80 percent of the route is on the village floor.

In addition, residents from Schwaigen or Grafenaschau would have to make a detour of several kilometers via Murnau to get to Eschenlohe or Ohlstadt.

The same applies to road users who want to go to Garmisch-Partenkirchen, they have to drive via Bad Kohlgrub and the Ettaler Berg.

“Every Grafenaschauer scolds.

We're half locked in," complained Müller.

PI boss Loys denials

City hall chief Mangold cannot understand the actions of the authority either.

"We're financing the connecting road," he says - and says that the route is "an evergreen".

Two years ago, Mangold thought aloud about a toll.

The fine notices would be passed on to the police because: There has been an oral agreement between the municipality and the Murnau Police Inspectorate for some time that the Grafenaschauer and Eschenloher may drive on the connecting road.

Joachim Loy, head of PI Murnau, does not want to know anything about a free ticket.

He only confirms that prosecuting these traffic violations by citizens from the two places is not a priority for the police.

However, Loy points out that traffic restrictions should generally be observed.
