The Dorfen carnival princess Susanne I. loves to sing.

She and her Prince Matthias I hope that the Hemadlenzn will have a free rein.

Dorfen

– To be a princess for once: For Susanne I., glittering regent over youth and song, a childhood dream comes true.

"It's all like in a fairy tale," she says, beaming.

Together with her husband Matthias I of the Hofkirchen Hofburg, the lady from Dorfen is getting ready for her reign in the fifth season.

Her Majesty's great wish: free rein for the Hemadlenzn.

On nonsensical Thursday, humor and fun will finally shine again in Isenstadt, she hopes.

Two years of parental leave because of Corona - now the traditional parade of the white shirts is shaking because through traffic will still be squeezing through the city center in the coming year.

But how should the mayor be taken out of the town hall when the cars are jammed?

“The carnival society is in talks with the city and district office.

We'll think of something," the princess promises.

Every self-respecting Dorfener wears a white nightgown, pointed cap or nightcap and long white underpants that day.

Up to 3000 Hemadlenzn usually take to the streets.

"It's better if traffic is officially diverted.

Not that anything else will happen,” says Susanne I. The fools in the carnival stronghold would not let their move be taken again and still take to the streets, she believes.

For her, carnival is “singing, laughing, having fun with friends”.

At the age of seven, Susanne Neumayer, as the princess is called by her real name, was in the dance guard of the Dorfen Carnival Society (KG) and grew up from the small guard to the Jumping Jacks.

She also played the great lady-in-waiting when her sister Melanie and brother-in-law Wolfgang Lanzinger were the princely couple in 2005.

"It was just unique, you don't forget something like that."

When KG President Martin Pommer announced his visit this year, Susanne knew immediately what was going on: "I was hooked right away.

Matthias first had to be convinced,” says the 31-year-old social worker.

But for the sake of his wife, the man from Hofkirchen also agreed to the regency.

Susanne I. and Matthias I. will be officially enthroned at the Maschkera on January 13th in the Tonwerk.

Mayor Heinz Grundner also symbolically presented the royal couple with the key to the town hall.

And the princess shows her costume for the first time.

Until then it's time to dance, dance, dance.

"I can waltz quite well," says Susanne's Prince Matthias, who works as a curative education nurse in Algasing.

There are rehearsals on Tuesdays and Thursdays, with a dance trainer and the royal household.

Many performances are coming up.

"Hopefully we can also go to the Marienstift or at least to the garden of the old people's home, it's important to show the elderly that they belong," explains the youth officer at the Catholic youth center in Erding.

For the royal couple, social commitment is just as much a part of it as boisterous celebrations.

Matthias Neumayer (42) is a friend of quick decisions.

"We met on Boxing Day 2017 in the Johanniscafé.

Six months later, he proposed to me,” reveals his Susanne.

After the civil marriage, she moved in with him in Hofkirchen.

The church wedding was this summer, after which they went on their honeymoon to the Maldives.

Both of them love to travel.

Whether by car to Italy or by e-bike to Straubing: the couple travels a lot.

Susanne I., sparkling regent over youth and song - the name says it all for the princess with the beautiful voice: "O you heaven on earth, loving carnival, sing happy songs through the Isental in rejoicing," she agrees.

She sings in Lyrico Vocale and has been in the choirs of Lydia Ulrich-Riedl for 28 years.

The prince is a football fan and regularly goes to the stadium to watch the lions from TSV 1860 Munich play.

The royal household also includes hereditary princess Tamara Stehr (11), who is nicknamed the "prancing pearl".

The partner at her side will be Hereditary Prince Enzo Damerau, the keeper of the handicap, because the eight-year-old boy is a passionate golfer.

tickets

for the Maschkera and the children's balls in February 2023 can be purchased on Saturdays in Advent from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Kuliga travel agency.

Incidentally, the royal couple will be present at the pre-sale on Saturday, December 10th.
