An artistic celebration was held on the occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, entitled “With Our Hands, We Make Our Wishes” on the stage of the Artists Syndicate in Aleppo.

The celebration was held by the Disabled Orphans Association, Al-Raja Association for Persons with Disabilities, the Child Protection Association and the Charitable Association for the Protection of the Blind, in cooperation with the Directorate of Social Affairs and Labor and the Union of Charitable Societies.

And the Director of Social Affairs and Labor, Ahmed Hamza, stated in a statement to SANA reporter that the celebration stresses the importance of supporting people with disabilities and integrating them into society, in a way that contributes to enhancing their self-confidence and activating their activities to be effective individuals.

The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Association of Orphans with Disabilities, Abdul Qadir Qula, explained that the celebration reflects the extent of interest and support for people with disabilities, securing a suitable environment for them, and improving their capabilities through training and rehabilitation.

The head of Al-Raja Association for People with Disabilities, Adnan Babli, spoke about the importance of educating society about caring for people with disabilities, and the need to integrate them with their peers to be active in society.

The director of Al-Raja Association, Fatima Babli, also referred to the training of children in artistic and theatrical performances on a daily basis, under the supervision of trainer Shereen Khalo, to advance their artistic abilities and present them to everyone, and she said: “They were able to assure the world that they are able to stand on stage.”

Mazen Al-Saeed of the Association for the Protection of the Blind indicated that a special musical group was established to ensure that disability does not stand in the way of the aspirations of this group, and its participation in celebrations and various activities.

Dr. Abdullah Shhna, Ph.D. in Musical Sciences, pointed out that blind people have a different sense of hearing than ordinary people, pointing out that educational and singing programs will be applied to raise their self-confidence.
