The exhibition included 50 calligraphic works by about 25 calligraphers from Aleppo, who used fonts ranging from Thuluth, Diwani, Kufic and Persian, with different techniques and colors for Quranic verses, proverbs, popular wisdom, literary thoughts and poems.

In a statement to SANA reporter, Muhammad Hallaq, head of the Craftsmen Union branch in Aleppo, pointed out the importance of the exhibition, since the art of Arabic calligraphy represents the Arab identity and is considered the most prominent feature of Islamic civilization.

And Joseph Mesli, head of the Craft Association of Calligraphers and Advertising Makers in Aleppo, stated that the exhibition was held in honor of a pioneer of Arabic calligraphy, and is considered the first of its kind in partnership with the Union of Fine Artists in Aleppo and aims to highlight the importance of this authentic Arab art and transfer it to the younger generations.

Artist Ibrahim Dawoud, a member of the Plastic Artists Union, pointed out the role of the Union in organizing, coordinating, communicating and supervising the organization of the exhibition in partnership with the Calligraphers Association, explaining that cooperation with the Association is the first of its kind and that cooperation will take place in the future to hold other exhibitions that commemorate the pioneers of Arabic calligraphy in Aleppo.

Imad Hosseini, a member of the executive office and supervisor of the Calligraphers and Billboards Craft Association, confirmed that the association seeks, through holding these exhibitions, to revive the heritage professions that are in the process of disappearing in the presence of technology.
