Six workers were killed in a gas explosion inside a coal mine in Harnai district, in southwestern Pakistan's Balochistan province.
Xinhua quoted local officials as saying that a gas explosion occurred yesterday at a depth of 1,500 feet inside a coal mine in Harnai district, causing part of it to collapse and a fire to block the entrance to the mine, trapping six workers who were working inside, killing all of them.
The officials pointed out that workers in the area and rescue teams immediately rushed to the site and began search and rescue operations, but they were unable to recover the bodies of the workers until seven hours later.
