The District Court in Tel Aviv today (Sunday) acquitted Uriel Zwata, a resident of Holon who shot and killed Yuri Podovni about three years ago, of murder.
Instead, it was ruled against him that he was guilty of manslaughter and assault under aggravated circumstances of possession of a weapon.
The reasoning for acquitting him of murder was that the shooting was carried out during a fight and movement and was not his intention."
Pudovni worked in a store adjacent to a family business that Zoit managed together with his father and brother in Holon. According to the indictment filed in March 2019, the manager of Podovni's store parked his car next to Zoit's business, And the latter noticed him and told him not to park there, and a loud and violent argument broke out between the two, in which Zoyt's father joined in. The store manager fled the scene, but later returned to him together with his employees, with Podovani among them.
Instead, another and bigger fight resumed, during which Zoyt pulled his gun from his pants, waved it, aimed at the manager and fired once into the air.
Later, a violent confrontation also developed between Zoyt's father and the store manager.
Zoyt the son who noticed the confrontation, returned the knife he had in his hand to his pocket - and pulled out the gun again.
At the same time, Zoyt noticed Podovani advancing towards his brother and father in an attempt to attack them - he aimed the gun at the center of his body and shot him at close range.
Podobny was hit in his upper body and collapsed on the spot.
So he angled the gun towards the manager, fired once more and missed.
Because of this, the prosecutor's office decided to charge him with attempted murder.
