Parliament will soon examine, probably at the beginning of 2023, the bill on the acceleration of nuclear power.
Unveiled on November 2 in the Council of Ministers by Agnès Pannier-Runacher, Minister for Energy Transition, and tabled the same day in the Senate, this text aims to accelerate the commissioning of new nuclear reactors.
This is another pillar (alongside the development of renewable energies and the sobriety plan) of the new French energy strategy, announced by Emmanuel Macron last February, in his Belfort speech.
The text provides for the simplification of administrative authorizations for the installation of new nuclear reactors in existing power plants.
It includes the construction of six EPR2 reactors and possibly eight others.
The work will be exempt from building permits, but the State will verify compliance with town planning rules.
