An accident in the fog on Saturday night on the A 92 almost led to a catastrophe.

A man was extremely lucky.

Freising

– An accident in the fog almost led to a disaster on Saturday night on the A 92.

At 3:10 a.m., a semi-trailer truck drove almost unbraked into a van – but the driver was not in the car, which probably saved his life.

According to the police, the small truck was probably unlit and unprotected on the right lane between Freising-Süd and the airport in the direction of Deggendorf – probably because of a breakdown.

The driver of a following articulated lorry recognized the obstacle too late and drove up almost without braking.

The truck driver suffered facial injuries

The impact caused the driver's cab of the articulated lorry to be deformed and the rear of the van to be massively deformed.

Fortunately, the 51-year-old driver of the pickup truck was not in the vehicle.

The 57-year-old driver of the semitrailer suffered facial injuries as a result of the collision and was taken to a hospital.

Only coincidence prevented worse, because the roof of the van was pushed into the driver's cab of the semitrailer by the force of the impact.

Total damage: 55,000 euros.

Due to vehicle recovery, two of the three lanes were closed until 7:30 a.m.

As a result, there were traffic delays.

Investigations were initiated against the driver of the van on suspicion of endangering road traffic.

Witnesses contact VPI Freising on Tel. (0 81 61) 95 20.
