One week until the timetable change on December 11th – then a whole host of innovations await passengers in and around Munich.

Munich – The timetable in Munich will change on December 11th.

Regular users of the U-Bahn line 5 should have already noticed one change: the new C2 vehicles have been in use there since the Oktoberfest - the so-called articulated trains do not consist of wagons coupled together, but are continuous and offer ten percent more capacity than the vehicles older series.

According to MVG spokesman Maximilian Kaltner, depending on availability, a third to half of the journeys will take place with the C2 vehicles in the future.

The C2 trains are also approved for the U4, but the trains do not run here.

The MVG continues to hold on to shortened older vehicles, mostly with four car parts.

Overall, MVG wants to be on the road with 85 C2 vehicles by 2025.

There are a number of mostly minor changes to the buses

There are a number of mostly minor changes to the buses: For example, the Munich lines 173, 180 and N76 will stop at the new Helene-Mayer-Ring stop in Olympiadorf after the timetable change.

Line 189 runs on a new route in Unterföhring.

For the MVV buses in the surrounding area, regular users are advised to check the timetables - here, too, there are some new stops, some additional trips or changed travel times for a number of lines.

With the S-Bahn, there is now a continuous 20-minute cycle on almost all lines from Monday to Friday from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m.

"Only on individual sections in the outer areas of the S2 West, S4 West and S7 East, the trains cannot run every 20 minutes due to the infrastructure," explains MVV spokeswoman Franziska Hartmann.

New for regional trains: Go-Ahead is taking over the Fugger Express to Augsburg from DB.

Unpleasant: The MVV prices are raised juicy - by 6.9 percent on average.

In future, the strip ticket will no longer cost 15.20 euros, but 16.30 euros.
