Meanwhile, 16 more patients died today, bringing the cumulative death toll to 10,806.

There were 9,487 new confirmed cases in Hong Kong today, with 8,830 local cases and 657 imported cases, accounting for 6.93% of the total cases, 2.01 percentage points higher than the previous day.
Among the newly imported cases, 370 involved samples tested at the airport, 217 involved samples from days 1 to 3, and the remaining 70 cases involved samples from days 4 to 7.

The number of arrivals at the airport reached 16,602 yesterday, with a confirmed diagnosis rate of 3.96%.

Among the samples received by the Public Health Laboratory Service of the Department of Health from November 25 to December 1 for verification tests of local cases, the Omicron variant virus strains BA.2.12.1 and BA.4/BA.5 substrains (including Suspected cases) accounted for 0% and about 71.32% respectively.
Local cases of new variant virus remain unchanged
As of 00:00 on December 4, the Public Health Laboratory Service Office of the Department of Health has found a total of 225 cases of XBB, 6 cases of XBD, 8 cases of BA.2.75.2, 7 cases of BA.4.6, and 13 cases of BF among the imported cases in Hong Kong .7 and 36 BQ.1.1 subseries cases, and a total of 104 XBB, 18 XBD, 1 BA.2.75.2, 4 BF.7 and 121 BQ.1.1 subseries cases were found in local cases.
The number of new variant virus cases remains unchanged.

14 residential care homes have reported cases
In terms of schools, today is a school holiday and there are no new reported cases, but 2 classes in 2 schools need to suspend classes for 7 days.
In terms of nursing homes, 14 residential homes reported 34 elderly people and 5 staff members were diagnosed, and 69 residents were listed as close contacts who needed to be quarantined.
