Sad leader: most accidents during forest work in Bavaria

According to statistics from the Board of Trustees for Forestry Work and Forestry Technology (KWF), between 2013 and 2021, most accidents in Germany occurred during forestry work in Bavaria.

In 2019 there were 140 accidents in Bavaria, in 2021 there were around 50 fewer.

In its statistics, the KWF takes account of reportable forest accidents that lead to an inability to work for more than three days or have fatal consequences for the casualty.

The most common cause of accidents is negligence, a lack of manual experience, a lack of knowledge, as well as falling, lying or hanging trunks and branches.

According to the Bavarian forest administration, accidents in connection with heavy forest machines are among the rarest causes.
