At the end of the year, Nina and Giulio De Filippo surprisingly quit as tenants of the popular Pinocchio ice cream parlor in Peiting.

How to proceed is still open.

Peiting - "Cari amici", "dear friends", is the title of the letter, the content of which has spread like wildfire in Peiting in the past few days.

On Saturday morning, Nina De Filippo hung it in the window of the Pinocchio ice cream parlor, which she and her husband Giulio have been running since 2013.

The lines that can be read there were not easy for her the night before.

"I cried while writing," says Nina De Filippo.

But somehow she had to tell the people from Peiting that the tenth anniversary next year would be nothing.

"We will be moving out of the ice cream parlor at the end of the year," confirms De Filippo the sad news that can be read in the shop window, followed by many emotional words of thanks.

Thank you, "for giving us the feeling of being at home and welcome in Peiting.

Thank you for making it so easy for us with your friendliness, with your goodness, with the special, magical way that only you Peitingers have, that we feel at home here!"

This farewell was not planned.

The De Filippos would have liked to continue, they only set up their new ice cream machine in front of the shop in the summer.

But in the end they couldn't find common ground with the lessor, explains Nina De Filippo regretfully.

She doesn't want to go into more detail about the reasons, one wasn't thrown out either, it's important for her to emphasize.

"It just didn't fit anymore."

“I would have loved to have kept the family at home”

The news of the impending move came out of the blue for Marita Lutz, who owns the house.

Nine years ago she leased the ice cream parlor and apartment to an ice cream parlor operator from the Allgäu, who in turn rented it to the De Filippos.

At that time, the lease agreement was concluded for more than 20 years, says Lutz.

The homeowner does not yet know what her tenant's plans will be after she ends working with the De Filippo family.

An appointment has been arranged for the coming week, says Lutz, who then hopes to find out more about the future of the ice cream parlor.

She also has great regret about the development.

"I would have loved to have kept the family at home."

The reactions to the farewell message show how much the De Filippos have grown dear to the people of Peiting.

"That was a real shock for me, because this central ice cream parlor with the super delicious ice cream has become the center of Peiting," wrote Alpine Club boss Herwig Skalitza to the local newspaper.

Many were also dismayed online.

"Every Peitinger was happy when Nina and Gulio opened on Valentine's Day," commented a user on Facebook.

"I visit you so often and love shopping and a visit to your wonderful ice cream parlor is always a treat for the soul," wrote another.

Pinocchio operators would prefer to stay in Peiting

When asked about it, Nina De Filippo is visibly touched that so many people are interested.

She didn't expect such an echo at all.

She herself cannot yet say exactly what will happen to her and her family.

"It's all still very fresh, for us too." But they would prefer to stay in Peiting.

They are currently looking for an apartment and a place where they can continue to produce ice for their two ice machines.

For the time being, there are no plans for an ice cream parlor, says the 39-year-old.

One does not want to act hastily, can also be read on the letter in their shop window.

"But we hope to see you again."
