After more than two months of protest in Iran, the morality police have been abolished, the attorney general announced on Sunday.
The day before, the Iranian government had announced that the authorities were working on the issue of the compulsory wearing of the veil for women.
Established in the aftermath of the Islamic Revolution in 1979, the morality police are the target of violent criticism after the death of Mahsa Amini, a 22-year-old young woman who died after her arrest in circumstances that remain unclear.
