Large-scale operation in Wotanstraße in Germering: there was a fire in an apartment building.
Thanks to a first responder, a woman was rescued from her apartment.
In addition, the man prevented worse.
On Friday around 2:36 p.m., the fire brigade was called to a fire in Wotanstrasse.
A kitchen in an apartment in an apartment building caught fire.
Thick smoke was pouring out of a ground-floor window.
Under heavy breathing protection, a squad advanced into the apartment.
Another searched the stairwell for other people.
In addition, one person should be in the apartment.
But that was no longer the case.
A man had already saved the woman - at the risk of his own life.
He also prevented worse.
"He closed the kitchen door so that the fire could not spread further," explains Christian Haugg, spokesman for the Germeringer fire brigade.
"That was great." And that's also unusual.
"They usually get someone out and leave the door open," says Haugg.
It is also remarkable that the man does not live in the house at all.
The fire was extinguished in a few minutes.
A firefighter sustained minor injuries while fighting the blaze.
The occupants of the apartment, the first responders and two neighbors were treated by the emergency services with suspected smoke inhalation.
The cause of the fire is still unclear, as is the extent of the damage.
The fire brigades from Germering and Unterpfaffenhofen, the rescue service, two emergency doctors and two police patrols were deployed.
After about an hour, the operation was over.
