Kathrin Fritsch is the first woman to join the Forstern fire department in 25 years.

She was honored for her active commitment, as were other active members for 25 and 40 years.

Forstern

– Premiere in the Forstern citizens' meeting: For the first time a woman was honored for many years of active service in the voluntary fire brigade.

A quarter of a century ago, Kathrin Fritsch was one of four women who were actively involved in the military.

She's been there ever since.

Mayor Rainer Streu presented her with a present for this.

"She is the first woman in the Forstern fire brigade who has put up with so many men for 25 years and who has been active in the fire service for 25 years," said Streu.

At that time this was definitely a "starter topic", meanwhile it is quite normal: "We have a very strong youth group with a lot of women.

That's just part of it."

It is clear to everyone that “it is not a matter of course that you jump up off the couch at home, jump out of bed or run away from work to an emergency.

That's why it's just right to say thank you.

You expose yourself to the various, often stressful and onerous operational situations and help others in need, for that you have our respect and our greatest thanks,” said Streu to Commander Matthias Belmer, Gerhard Koppert, Richard Häusler and Helmut Stadler, who have also been active for 25 years Service were honored, as was Frank Loidl in his absence.

Josef Schillinger has been there for even longer, namely 40 years.

"Besides the fact that he works for the fire brigade, he was always responsible for ensuring that the citizens got fries at our parties.

That's why he's also the french fries Sepp for us," Streu told a little anecdote.
