During a routine traffic check, the police stopped a parcel service driver - the 25-year-old had to give up his driver's license last year.

Brunnthal – The police caught a young man with drugs in his blood on the Autobahn.

On Saturday, December 3, around 8:30 p.m., officials stopped a van from the Freising district during a routine traffic check, according to the Holzkirchen motorway police.

At the wheel of the van was a 25-year-old man who was driving a parcel service on the A8 towards Munich.

Upon checking his name, the police immediately noticed that the young man had "appeared to the police several times" in the past.

He had to give up his driver's license last year because he was driving under the influence of drugs.

When asked by the officers, the young man immediately honestly stated that he had consumed something in the past few days.

An on-site urine test confirmed this, according to police information.

They then drove the man to the police station and carried out a blood test there.

Since the native Romanian does not have a permanent residence in Germany, he had to deposit security for the expected fine, which he was able to raise after a few phone calls to colleagues.

A8 near Brunnthal: repeat offenders – the fine doubles

Since the action is a so-called second offence, i.e. a repeat offence, the regular fine has been doubled from 500 euros to 1000 euros and a one-month driving ban has now become three months.

The heavy fine means that the professional driver can "learn from his mistakes," according to the police.
