Christmas is approaching even for thieves… Two of them were arrested in flagrante delicto on the night of Saturday to Sunday in Paris in the 17th arrondissement after trying to seize merchandise from a toy store.

At 2:50 a.m., rue Pierre-Demours, the duo positions themselves in front of the window of the shop which responds to the name of Mic Mac.

The small neighborhood business, very active on social networks, claims to be a specialist in “Lego and Playmobil” but also other brands such as “Kapla, Barby, Polly Pocket, Top Model”.

A wealth of information for buyers and criminals alike.

On this cold winter night, the stall with red walls has already taken on the colors of the end-of-year celebrations.

But the vandals are not really sensitive to it.

They take a cobblestone, smash the window, seize the toys displayed there and flee with several boxes.

The alarm goes off and a police patrol quickly rushes to the scene.

Officials have a good description of the suspects.

And they find them, not far from there, in rue Laugier with their loot consisting mainly of Pokemon cards.

“These are not drunks who would have done this for fun, specifies the shopkeeper who filed a complaint at the police station.

They are burglars who wanted the goods”.

The two burglars are in custody

The two men were arrested and taken into custody at the 17th arrondissement police station.

They were to be questioned by investigators during the day.

What were their intentions to sell the goods?

Further investigations will no doubt make it possible to find out.

But one thing is certain, there is a hidden toy market, particularly Legos, which is fed by specialist thieves.

In 2020, the gendarmes of Orgeval (Yvelines) had identified a Polish team which scoured the major toy brands for the sole purpose of stealing these games which are the subject of international traffic.

This Sunday evening, the Paris prosecutor's office should decide what to do with the case of the 17th century shop.

The damage for traders lies above all in the damage because the repair of a shop window costs several thousand euros.
