Serious train accident near Halle: One fatality and several injuries

A serious train accident occurred on a train route in Saxony-Anhalt on Friday night.
The cause is so far completely unclear.
Update from December 2, 10:18 p.m .:
The blocking of the section of track due to the train accident on Friday night near Halle was lifted, as the railway announced.
A 27-year-old man died in the accident.
Three other people are injured, one seriously.
Other track workers have to watch the accident.
The train driver, who had been driving his vehicle from Magdeburg-Rothensee to Halle, suffered a shock, according to a spokeswoman for the federal police.
According to the railway, the accident happened at a construction site where track work was being carried out.
The federal police and the criminal police determined the course of the accident.
However, investigating the cause will take some time.

After the accident involving a single locomotive with several railway workers, Deutsche Bahn expressed its sympathy.
"The accident that happened last night near Halle-Ammendorf affects us deeply," said a DB spokesman on Friday.
"Our thoughts are with the track worker who died in the accident and the injured, as well as their families and friends.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to the family of the victim.
We send our best wishes to the injured.”
The accident happened in a construction site area.
Track work had taken place there, the spokesman said.
The federal police and the criminal police are currently investigating how the accident happened.
According to an official order, the section of the route is still closed.
The DB long-distance trains would be diverted via Leipzig/Halle Airport.
There is a change of direction.
Trains on the ICE lines from Hamburg/Berlin in the direction of Frankfurt am Main and Munich are affected.
A forecast for lifting the blocking was not yet possible on Friday morning.

First report from December 2nd:
Halle - On the night of Friday (December 2nd) a train accident near Halle triggered a large-scale operation.
A spokeswoman for the Federal Police announced that a single locomotive was on its way from Magdeburg-Rothensee to Halle.
Around three in the morning, the vehicle hit several railway workers.
One person was killed and three other railway employees were injured.
The cause of the train accident is still unclear at this time.
In the early morning it snowed heavily in Saxony-Anhalt.
The police spokeswoman could not yet say why the railway employees were on the tracks.
According to the spokeswoman, the train driver suffered a shock.
Other workers who were not injured were given pastoral care.
The Mitteldeutsche Zeitung
had previously
reported on the accident.
The spokeswoman also announced that the Halle-Kassel railway line had been closed.
Initially, the Halle-Erfurt route was mentioned.
The train reported delays between Halle and Erfurt on its website in the morning.
The ICE trains would be diverted in both directions and delayed by about 30 minutes, it said.
Train accidents with killed railway employees: Several cases are known
Nationwide there have always been train accidents with killed railway employees.
Two technicians died in Saxony-Anhalt in December 2016.
An ICE had captured the 56 and 61-year-old men who had just been on duty.
In March of this year, a 21-year-old construction worker died on a railway line between Bremen and Osnabrück.
A local train caught him there and killed him.

In November last year, a railway employee in Central Franconia was hit by a train on the route between Treuchtlingen and Würzburg.
In August 2021, a 22-year-old railway employee died at Konz-Karthaus station in Rhineland-Palatinate.
He had just wanted to fix a fault, as the Federal Police said at the time.
