In the future, the community of Reichling will have a kindergarten in two districts: the old school in Ludenhausen will now be converted into a day-care center.
Reichling
- The idea of converting the former Sudbury School in Ludenhausen into a two-group kindergarten and thus having a solution for the lack of space in the "Wurzbergoase" in Reichling was controversial.
Because many - especially the parents - would have preferred an extension to the existing facility in Reichling.
There were also advocates for an extension in the municipal council: In the end, however, the committee decided with eight to five votes for the solution in Ludenhausen and thus against an extension building in Reichling.
The most recent Reichling municipal council meeting showed the great interest that the population has in the kindergarten location issue: around 50 visitors - mainly mothers and fathers of kindergarten children and future kindergarten children - crowded into the meeting room.
The parents of the kindergarten had also submitted an application for the meeting.
She called for a precise comparison of the costs and the follow-up costs for the next 20 years for both alternatives.
They also demanded that the municipal council should determine in advance which children would then come to Reichling and which to Ludenhausen.

Mayor Johannes Leis explained that the latter question could only be decided when the kindergarten in Ludenhausen opened.
However, the municipal council could decide that, for example, siblings could attend the same facility.
As for the costs, he briefly presented the figures already known.
Accordingly, the conversion of the school in Ludenhausen with costs between 73,000 and 693,000 euros - depending on the expansion stage - is significantly cheaper than an extension in Reichling (cost estimate: 2.24 million euros).
Kindergarten would lose grandfathering
Hans-Jürgen Korn advocated that the municipal council should think about the matter more carefully and involve the citizens in the decision – perhaps also in the form of a referendum.
He also did not rule out new ideas.
Thomas Schelle and Bernd Glück said that one shouldn't think again and rather not waste any more time.
Alexander Graf said that the community should "be more far-sighted": The solution in Ludenhausen was intended to be very short-term in view of the increased personnel costs and other follow-up costs.
Heinrich Quarter pointed out that the kindergarten in Reichling would lose its existing protection if the building were expanded.
Staff would like to have all the children under one roof
In the end, it was mainly the costs that made the decision in favor of the old Ludenhausen school.
The community has an extension "not in the cross," said Quarter.
Glück and Stehpan Leis pointed out that the municipality would pay off the loan for a long time for an extension in Reichling.
"We can't afford that," says Stephan Leis.

The community saves a lot of money with the solution in Ludenhausen, says Glück.
There are also parents who have no problem with the two locations, he explained.
Kindergarten manager Petra Stäbel explained that the staff would have preferred it if the children had all stayed under one roof.
