The police said that they received a report from a bank employee the day before yesterday that an 89-year-old woman went to the bank to withdraw money, and the employee found it suspicious.
The police investigation found that a scammer demanded 50,000 yuan on the grounds that the old woman's son was in urgent need of bail. The police immediately deployed an operation and ambushed at the delivery location.

After investigation, the police arrested an 18-year-old girl and a 15-year-old boy in a hotel in To Kwa Wan and a unit in Choi Ying Estate respectively on the same day. They were suspected of "conspiracy to defraud".
The police believe that the three were involved in 11 phone scams targeting the elderly between November 21 and December 2. The victims were between 67 and 89 years old, involving 985,000 people.
The three arrested persons were all hired. The police are investigating whether there is gang control, and it is not ruled out that more people will be arrested.
