Biden and Herzog meeting at the White House (Reuters)
The Secretary of State of the United States, Anthony Blinken, said today (Sunday) in his speech to the left-wing pro-Israel lobby J-Street that the Biden administration will judge the government in Israel "according to its policies, and not according to the identity of specific personalities".
He also emphasized that the United States will demand that the new government meet the mutual standards of relations, as they have been for the past 70 years.
This is the first public and official reference of the Biden administration regarding its policy towards the new government in Israel and the attitude towards the representatives of the extreme right who were appointed as ministers in the government.
"Israel recently held elections and a new government will be in place in the coming days. We respect the choice of the Israeli people and welcome Netanyahu's commitment to form a government, which he says will work for all the residents of Israel without exception," said Bliknan.
"As President Biden told Netanyahu, we expect the new government to work with us to promote our shared values. We will continue to support democratic values, including LGBT rights and equal justice for all Israeli citizens.
We will speak honestly and respectfully with our Israeli friends as partners should do."

The American Secretary of State added that the Biden administration will oppose the expansion of settlements in the West Bank, Israeli annexation measures in the West Bank, damage to the status quo on the Temple Mount and incitement to violence.
Blinken also said that the Biden administration supports the two-state solution because it is consistent with equality and democracy.
"We believe that Israelis and Palestinians are entitled to the same rights and the same opportunities," he explained.
According to him, a two-state solution based on the 1967 lines with an exchange of territories is the best way to achieve peace and preserve Israel as a Jewish and democratic state.
"The United States recognizes Jerusalem as the capital of Israel - it is important to both nations and should be a city for all its residents," Blinken added.
"Anything that distances us from the two-state solution endangers Israel's security and identity in the long term. Now the two-state solution seems like a distant vision - but we are committed to preserving this vision."
