About 1,000 senior executives of the industry, including the owners of shopping malls and retail chains, CEOs of companies and the top of the industry gathered at the Royal Beach Hotel Eilat for the annual conference.

In the days when the marketing chains in Israel are fighting the producers and importers of food and against the background of price increases and a boycott by consumers such as the protest against Unilever that led to a decrease of 12 million NIS in Unilever's weekly turnover, the mall managers are breathing a sigh of relief. For them, the cost of living has not yet reached them and their prices are only going down, which affects the public for the better and the volume of turnovers. About 1,000 senior executives of the industry, including the owners of shopping malls and retail chains, CEOs of companies and the top of the industry gathered today (Sunday) at the Royal Beach Eilat Hotel for the annual conference.

Dedi Rizal, founder and chairman of the 16th annual conference of the shopping malls and retail chains in Israel, which is convening in Eilat, sounds satisfied. In a conversation with Israel Hayom, he is indeed careful to condemn the struggle of the retail chains against their suppliers, who are currently engaged in a media war over price increases, but I think the same result could have been achieved only in a different way. Rizal claims that there is no chance that the clothing, footwear and leisure industry will cause the cost of living and if it will contribute to the drop in prices in Israel.

There is no chance that the clothing, footwear and leisure industry will cause the cost of living, Dedi Rizal at the conference,

"It is likely that we will not see what is happening in the retail chains and the food industry. Traditionally in the clothing industry there is a price drop. From January 2020, the consumer price index increased by 43 percent and in the same years the clothing and footwear index decreased by more than 30 percent. Today, an average family in Israel spends 50 percent less on Clothing, footwear and leisure much less than it spent in 2020.

There are many explanations for this, due to the expansion of competition due to the amount of chains that entered the market and Israel and also due to the increase in online purchases.

It can be said with certainty that the clothing and footwear industry contributes to reducing the cost of living.

"We in the networks do not raise prices."

Avi Shomer, CEO of the Tzomat Sharif chain, also believes that the cost of living has not reached and will not reach leisure stores and fashion chains. "In the meantime, prices have stagnated for almost 10 years and they are only going down.

This year's index increased by 6.5 percent, but we in the chains do not raise prices because the competition does not allow us, we try to find new marketing avenues and new products.

The reason for the price drops in the fashion, footwear and leisure market is the drop in world currencies and the drop in transportation costs of almost 70 percent.

It is true that some importers took advantage of the price increases and then raise prices.

The car importers used to give discounts and today they are already raising prices."

This year's conference deals with the variety of innovations, technologies and trends that are at the center of the scene of the local and international retail scene.

On the stage of the conference, which will last three days, about 50 speakers will appear, in panels, sessions and lectures that will deal with the hot topics with the heads of the industry: retail in the world of digital reality, opportunities in the future of retail, consumer boycott, the art of closing in huge deals, the legalization of consumers, Activism in business, the fashion industry in a global climate crisis, and more.

The "Israel Today" website, which leads and covers the conference, has set up a studio at the Royal Beach Hotel in Eilat, which hosts the conference, and Israel Hayom's senior reporters and editors broadcast interviews with CEOs, businessmen and influencers in the worlds of consumerism and commerce from there.
