Geretsried - "We are home - diversity lives on site": Under this motto, the district of Upper Bavaria awarded three initiatives with the Inclusion Prize 2022.

The winners are initiatives that enable an appreciative coexistence of all people and live in the areas of culture, environment, nature, mobility and inclusion.

With this in mind, the first prize went to the Malteser Hilfsdienst and the DAV, who organize hiking tours in the Alpine region as part of a joint project.

The Ismaning Music School came in second and the jury awarded the third prize, worth 2,000 euros, to “Living Together – Learning Together”, the association for promoting the joint education of disabled and able-bodied children from Geretsried for the “Theater for All” project.

The inclusive theater project in the district of Bad Tölz Wolfratshausen, which has been in existence for seven years, puts on a production every year that it develops together with the Komische Gesellschaft association in Bad Tölz.

Young people and adults with and without disabilities come together to play together.

The jury was particularly impressed by the fact that all members of the ensemble are directly involved in the development of the pieces.

The jury judged the project to be a good example of creative cooperation between people with and without disabilities in the field of culture.

"It's proof that theater can also be inclusive."

"Inclusion makes our society strong and enriches everyone's life," said District President Josef Mederer at the award ceremony.

"Social participation of people with disabilities takes place in families, clubs, in the city and in the countryside." Life at home is characterized by the unprejudiced and appreciative coexistence of people with and without disabilities.

With 48 applications, the jury did not find it easy to choose.

"The three winners promoted encounters between people with and without disabilities," explained Mederer, emphasizing: "They contribute to social participation in the sense of the UN Disability Rights Convention."
