The police believe that this operation has dismantled a cross-border criminal group operating illegal prostitution activities through social media, and the operation is still ongoing, and it is not ruled out that more people will be arrested.

During the operation, a 40-year-old local woman and a 27-year-old mainland woman were arrested for "controlling others with the purpose of causing them to have illegal sexual intercourse or prostitution". The mainland woman was also arrested for "violating the conditions of stay" .

In addition, 11 mainland women (aged 23 to 35) and 4 foreign women (aged 20 to 30) were arrested for "violating the conditions of stay".

All are under arrest.

The police remind the public that according to the "Crimes Ordinance" Chapter 200 of the Laws of Hong Kong, anyone who controls another person with the purpose of causing him to have illegal sexual intercourse or prostitution is a serious crime. Once convicted, he can be sentenced to a maximum of 14 years in prison. Members of the public should not defy the law .

The Kowloon West Region will continue to monitor the situation and conduct intelligence gathering, and cooperate with relevant departments to combat illegal prostitution and illegal immigration.
