A new storm in Turkey: a Turkish broadcaster was fired during halftime of the game he was broadcasting, because he mentioned Khan Shukur, the former striker, who became an enemy of Erdogan's regime.

Alfer Bekircigli broadcast the match between Morocco and Canada on the Turkish TRT network.

When Hakim Zayesh gave Morocco an early lead in the 4th minute, the broadcaster noted that the Chelsea player's goal was far from the fastest goal in World Cup history, and mentioned Shukor's goal, the fastest in World Cup history.

Apparently the mention of Shukor was not well received by the channel's managers, and he was replaced already at halftime and later fired.

He then posted a farewell message on Twitter, writing that "I have been fired from TRT, the place I worked for years, following an incident that happened today," and later deleted the tweet.

Sukur was one of the biggest football stars in the history of Turkey.

The striker was an integral part of the 2002 Turkish team that won third place in the World Cup and scored 51 goals in 112 appearances.

He starred in Galatasaray with 162 goals in 246 appearances.

However, Shukor's life changed from one end to the other: after joining Recep Tayyip Erdogan's party, he was suspected of corruption cases and as soon as his relationship with the president deteriorated, it was clear to him that he had to flee the country.

All his assets in Turkey were frozen and he fled to the United States when he had to leave behind his father, who was banned and later given up because he had cancer.

Over time, intimidation began when a fan who took a picture with Shukor was also banned for it.

In an interview in Germany, Shukor said that he now works as an Uber driver in Washington and sells books for a living.

"I'm starting to work now," said the great pioneer of the past, "I have nothing left in the world, Erdogan took everything from me. My right to freedom, the right to explain myself, express myself, the right to work."

From hero to target, this is how world fame passes to her.

He also talked about working with Erdogan's party and said: "The party invited me so that I could use my popularity and then the bullying and hostility began. They threw stones at my wife's shop, bullied my children in the street, I received threats after every statement I made. When I ran away, they punished my father Mine went to prison and everything got complicated. It's a very difficult time for my family, everyone is facing many difficulties. When I came to the United States I opened a cafeteria and made coffee. Strange people came here all the time and played Dombra music (music that Erdogan's party defines as the music of real Turks). When the man who took the picture Itay returned to Turkey, they discovered the photo of Itay on his cell phone and put him in prison for 14 months."

About the change that Turkey has gone through, Shukur said: "When I joined Erdogan's party, Turkey was a country that met the standards of the European Union and brought in a lot of investments from Europe, but Erdogan's policies led to corruption and a completely different direction. They began to focus more on the Middle East than on Europe."

Shukor addressed the accusations that he was complicit in the coup attempt in 2016 and said: "What was my role? No one has yet explained to me. I only did things that were legal in my country, but my name is Khan Shukor. Can you specify what crime I committed? No. Just switches you as a 'traitor' and a 'terrorist'. I am an enemy of the government, not of the Turkish nation or the country. I love the flag and the country."
