Ariel and Shira Eliyahu said that they arrived home from kindergarten, parked the car and were on their way to take the baby out of the back seat. As they collected the toys from the back seat, a coyote started running at the girl, biting her leg and dragging her face down on the pavement

An Israeli family from the Woodland Hills neighborhood of Los Angeles told yesterday (Saturday) of the horrifying moment when a Bozav Arabot attacked their two-year-old daughter in broad daylight.

Video from the security cameras showed the jackal attacking the baby and dragging her, within seconds.

The girl's parents, Ariel and Shira Eliyahu, told TV channel 5 KTLA that they arrived home from kindergarten, parked the car in front of the house and were on their way to get the baby out of the back seat.

As they collected the toys from the back seat, a coyote started running at the girl, biting her leg and dragging her face down on the sidewalk.

The girl screamed and her father, Ariel, immediately ran to save her while screaming at the animal to scare it.

"Ariel turned his back to the girl for a second, and didn't see the coyote. He heard her screaming and thought she had fallen," Shira Ham said.

"He ran to her and then saw him."

The coyote was not frightened and even remained in place for a few moments before Ariel threw a stone at him.

"The girl is full of scratches on her left leg, one of them is very deep," Shira said.

"We went to intensive care and she got an anti-rabies shot. He just dragged her and her face got a little bruised as well."

On Friday night, while KTLA5 was filming the story at the family's home, a coyote suddenly appeared in front of the house.

Ariel chased him and drove him into the bushes.
