27 people have been killed as a result of a landslide and landslide in the Risaralda department in northwest Colombia.
Reuters quoted President Gustavo Petro as saying in a tweet on the social networking site Twitter: “It is with sadness that we announce that so far 27 people have died, including three children, as their bus collapsed, due to landslides caused by heavy rains in the village of Pueblo Rico in Risaralda province yesterday.”
For his part, Victor Manuel Tamayo, governor of Risaralda, said: "Five people have been rescued, while all the bodies have been recovered."
A previous toll indicated that there were three victims and the loss of others, as the country is witnessing an unusually heavy rainy season.
