Unilever recalls some dry shampoos for carcinogenic chemical 0:46
New York (CNN) --
Laundress, a brand of household detergents and cleaning products, recalled nearly eight million items due to the possible presence of bacteria that would pose a health risk to consumers.
The recalled products, which the pricey boutique brand made between January 2021 and September 2022, include laundry detergents, fabric conditioners and cleaning products.
The move was announced on December 1.

According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), affected items may contain one of several different types of bacteria, many of which are environmental organisms found widely in soil and water.
The CPSC warned that people with weakened immune systems, underlying lung conditions, or those who use external medical devices and are exposed to the bacteria could face the risk of a serious infection that may require medical treatment if the bacteria are inhaled or enter the body through through the eyes or a break in the skin.
People with healthy immune systems are generally not affected by the bacteria, the entity said.

At least 11 consumers have reported infections with the pseudomonas bacteria, the commission said.
The company said it is investigating the reports to determine if the infections were related to the recalled products.

The CPSC indicated that consumers who purchased the recalled product after January 2021 should immediately stop using it and request a refund (this is the list of products affected by the action).
And he added that people should dispose of the product by tightly closing the bottle and placing it in a household waste and not empty the product before discarding it.
Laundress products were sold at TheLaundress.com, Amazon, and at stores including Bloomingdale's, The Container Store, Saks Fifth Avenue, Target, Nordstrom, Brooklinen, and other major retailers nationwide, through September 2022 for between $8 and $100.
