Düsseldorf: The police had closed all the Christmas markets in the city because there was an acute threat.

Now there is an all-clear.

Update from December 5, 8:55 p.m .:

After clearing several Christmas markets in downtown Düsseldorf because of a threat, the police gave the all-clear on Monday evening.

The measures around the town hall "were orderly", said the police in the North Rhine-Westphalian state capital.

Investigations into a crime "threat of crimes to disturb the public peace" had been started.

After receiving a threat, the police cleared the Christmas markets in downtown Düsseldorf between 3:30 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.

It's about an "abstract threat," said a police spokesman in the North Rhine-Westphalian capital.

The principle of “safety first” applies.

The police did not provide any further information on the nature and circumstances of the threat, which was received on Monday afternoon.
