Keeping the two hospitals in the district in municipal hands and securing the jobs of the employees - these are the top priorities after the referendum.

The hospital GmbH regrets that it was not possible to bring the future model closer to the citizens.

Schongau – On the day after the referendum, the mood among District Administrator Andrea Jochner-Weiß as well as Thomas Lippmann, Managing Director of the hospital GmbH, the medical directors and probably also the employees is extremely gloomy.

A participant in the press conference on Monday described the clear result for the preservation of both hospitals in Schongau and Weilheim as a "slap in the face for the district".

More than two-thirds of those entitled to vote have supported the opinion of the action alliance "Pro Hospital Schongau".

"You voted for the status quo to remain as it is," the district administrator summed it up.

District Administrator Andrea Jochner-Weiß: "Accept the will of the citizens"

They want to accept the citizen's will, "that's democracy, we're not angry or angry with anyone".

However, the talks that have now been held were "very emotional", especially among employees in Schongau.

"For most, the outcome of the election was unbelievable," said the district administrator.

Her biggest concern is that the employees of the GmbH are now turning their backs because they no longer see any prospects for the future.

But the cohesion of recent times is still clearly noticeable, they want to continue to pull together.

"I admit, now we have to have a Christmas break," said Jochner-Weiss.

In January, the supervisory board wants to meet together with expert Norbert Roeder and the Bavarian Hospital Society (BKG).

She cannot promise that there will be a plan B in the near future.

GmbH Managing Director Thomas Lippmann: "Perspective of the central hospital pulled away from under your feet"

"A large part of the employees is shocked," says the GmbH managing director.

"The central hospital was a perspective, because the ground was pulled out from under your feet." It will be a balancing act, but it is now the task to keep the employees on board.

BKG Managing Director Roland Engehausen showed respect to the citizens for an election turnout of almost 50 percent.

But he also warned: “Holding on to the status quo is not an option.” The district had set out early on, and that was already a role model for Bavaria.

"How it is now possible to close the ranks of employees will also play a pioneering role."

Professor Reinhold Lang: "Krankenhaus GmbH must bear responsibility"

"We were on the way to getting our attitude into people's minds, we didn't succeed, that's taking me a lot." Professor Reinhold Lang, medical director in Schongau, admitted this openly.

However, the action alliance has also shouldered a real task: "If you get a ball rolling and it becomes an avalanche, you have to take responsibility."

Professor Andreas Knez: "We were not trusted"

Professor Andreas Knez, Medical Director in Weilheim, was disappointed.

It was not possible to make the citizens understand “that it is about the future.

We were not trusted.”

In an interview, Daniela Puzzovio, spokeswoman for the action alliance, demands that we shouldn't just wait it out, but rather see the citizen's clear mandate.
