An 11-year-old boy dies after falling from the fifth floor of a hotel in Alicante while practicing 'parkour'

An 11-year-old boy, of Norwegian nationality, died last night after falling from a height of five floors in a hotel in l'Alfàs del Pi (Alicante, 20,495 inhabitants).

The investigation works with the thesis that the minor, a resident of the Alicante town, circumvented the security measures together with a nine-year-old friend, and accessed the terrace at noon this Sunday to practice

acrobatic exercises between the furniture urban.

In one of the jumps, he broke a methacrylate skylight that led to the stairwell, through which the child fell until he fell into the hotel hall, according to sources close to the investigations, opened by the Civil Guard to clarify the facts.

The accident occurred at three in the afternoon this Sunday.

According to the Civil Guard, the two minors entered the hotel and went up to the roof, where they presumably broke the padlock on the access door.

Once there, without anyone noticing their presence, they began to run and jump between the walls, electrical appliances, and air conditioners.

In one of the stunts, the minor fell on the skylight covered with a methacrylate sheet that illuminates the hotel stairwell.

The dome broke and the child fell from 16 meters high to the entrance of the establishment.

Those responsible for the tourist center of l'Alfàs del Pi, a municipality near Benidorm where a large Norwegian colony lives, notified the emergency services, which mobilized a unit from SAMU and another from the Basic Vital Service, detail sources from the Center for Information and Emergency Coordination (CICU) of the Generalitat Valenciana.

The medical personnel managed to stabilize the minor after performing various resuscitation maneuvers on him, and subsequently transferred him to the Marina Baixa de la Vila Joiosa Hospital, the closest to the scene of the accident, with a serious case of polytrauma.

In the same center, the mother of the minor, 47 years old, who had an anxiety crisis, was assisted.

The seriousness of the injuries forced the transfer of the injured person to the Doctor Balmis hospital, in the Alicante capital.

A brigade of the Vila Local Police escorted the ambulance to the highway, where the Civil Guard took over, as explained by the CICU.

When the medical vehicle arrived at the entrance to Alicante, the Local Police once again ensured that the vehicle maintained a constant speed, in order to facilitate and maintain the stability of the patient, say the same sources.

Despite the attention received, the minor died last night, around 11:30 p.m., according to corroboration by the Civil Guard.

The Judicial Police of the Altea armed institute barracks has initiated an investigation, in which everything points to the fact that there was negligence on the part of the minor and any responsibility of the hotel establishment, in which the deceased child was not staying, is ruled out.
