Cabinet around Söder advises on Tuesday
On Tuesday (December 6) at 9 a.m., the cabinet wants to discuss a possible early end to the obligation to wear masks in local public transport in Bavaria.
Prime Minister and CSU boss Markus Söder last mentioned mid-December or the beginning of next year as conceivable dates – provided that the corona numbers remain “reasonably stable” and that there are no new mutations by then.
In any case, the state government must make a decision as to whether and how the mask requirement will continue.
Because on December 9th, the current version of the Bavarian Infection Protection Ordinance, which also regulates the obligation to wear a mask in local transport, expires.

According to the current federal infection protection law, masks are compulsory there until April 2023. The Bavarian state government has long criticized the fact that the mask requirement on airplanes has been abolished, but that it still applies to long-distance transport.
